ALISTAIR BILLINGTON
Technical Director, Wood
Alistair is a Technical Director with 27 years of consultancy experience gained within the UK and EMEA, and provides expert advice on EIA and application strategy. During this time, he has led and managed teams of technical experts on complex, EIA projects across a variety of sectors utilising a variety of digital techniques. He contributes to the development of best practice and technical excellence in this discipline, including through the delivery of events on digital EIA for professional institutions. He holds a Masters degree in Environmental Management and Assessment and Honours degree in Geographical Sciences.
FREYA CRUNDEN
Environmental Consultant, Atkins
Freya is one of Atkins’ Net Zero Subject Matter Experts. Freya’s work in Atkins’ Infrastructure business is focused on enabling cultural change to drive down carbon emissions. Freya leads sustainability management on major project delivery frameworks from both a client and consultant side, working across value chains to enhance collaboration, upskill and enthuse teams, and make carbon reductions real through practical actions. Freya is passionate about creating new low-carbon ways of working through behaviour change and effective processes. Freya is Atkins’ technical lead on carbon assessment for EIA, and a key lead in Atkins’ growing greenhouse gas removals work area, advising on technological and nature-based climate solutions.
IAN EVANS
Technical Director, Wood
The presentation will be provided by Ian Evans (Wood Technical Director) who has over 30 years of experience in the geoenvironmental market, with a specific focus on support to land development and regeneration. Ian is Chair of the Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC) Professional Technical Panel.
NICK HILTON
Technical Director and UK EIA Lead, Wood
Nick is a Director at Wood and heads up the UK EIA team. He has over 20 years consulting experience and has worked extensively on UK infrastructure and development projects within the Transportation, Nuclear, Renewables and Land Development sectors. Nick’s involvement in digital EIA projects includes work in Europe, Asia and Southern Africa where he lived and worked for several years. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and holds Masters degrees in Law and Business as well as his first degree in Environmental Science.
VICKY HUTCHINSON
Director of the Environment Practice, Atkins
Dr Vicky Hutchinson is Director of the Environment Practice within Atkins. She was previously Head of Social Value at ISG. She has developed and implemented social value strategies for contractors and consultants, working at a senior level to develop procedures, targets and measurement protocols across business units. She has worked closely with local authority clients to design and deliver Social Value programmes for both public sector frameworks and at a project level, and has worked in partnership with peers across the sector to maximise the socio-economic outcomes of infrastructure and construction activity. Her current role as Director of the Environment Practice within Atkins involves bringing together different parts of the Atkins business to respond to current challenges. These range from tackling the climate emergency and delivering a low carbon future, to looking beyond apprenticeships to understand how social value is created through buildings, infrastructure and the green spaces between them.
DR NICK JARRITT
Director – Climate Risk, Water Management & Environmental Policy, Wood
Nick is an environmental consultant with over 20 years of experience in flood risk management and environmental policy. He leads the Advisory Services team in Wood’s UK Environment & Infrastructure business.

ALAN KIRBY
Technical Director (Ecology), Wood
Alan has worked in ecological consultancy for the past 16 years, spending the last 10 years working on DCO projects including Hinkley Point C, North London (Electricity ) Reinforcement, Navitus Bay Offshore Wind Farm, Triton Knoll Electrical System and the Heathrow Expansion Project. He worked closely with Heathrow and Natural England to incorporate biodiversity net gain into the Heathrow Expansion Project in all phases.
